Gardai appeal following the death of Cavan man

The State pathologist, Dr John Harbison, is currently carrying out a post mortem examination on the body of an elderly man who was killed last night.

Gardai in Cavan town are appealing for information following the incident that occurred yesterday evening.

The 70-year-old pensioner was involved in a row with a number of youths in a car park shortly after six o’clock.

The man was pronounced dead on arrival at Cavan General Hospital, it is believed he was struck a number of times in the row.

Gardai say that they are following a definite line of inquiry.
