Gardai investigate Cavan death

Gardai in Cavan will today continue their investigation into the death of a man in his 70s.

The man was involved in an incident with a number of youths at a car park in the Bridge Street area of the town at about 6.30pm last evening.

He was taken to Cavan General Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.

It is understood the man's daughter was with him when the incident occurred.

The scene has been preserved and is to be technically examined. It is understood Gardai are following a definite line of inquiry.
