Massive fireworks display tonight

Dublin will be in carnival mood today, as the delayed St Patrick's Day festival begins in earnest.

Today is the main day of the rescheduled St Patrick's Day Festival, and events got underway at noon today.

The highlight will be tonight's SkyFest fireworks display on the South Quays which starts at around 10pm.

Syd Howard, in charge of the Sydney Olympics display will be responsible for the proceedings tonight.

This year's soundtrack will be mixed by top Irish DJ Johnny Moy.
