Man in court due to stabbing of flatmate
A 20-year-old Carlow man appeared before a special sitting of Carlow District Court last night over the fatal stabbing of a teenager at the weekend.
John Dillon of Granby Row, Carlow was charged with the murder of his flatmate in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The dead man was named as Warren Slater, 17, who shared a house with Dillon near Carlow’s town centre.
It is believed that a row broke out in the street near Mr Slater’s home as he was returning from a night out with friends.
It is understood that he was stabbed several times inside his home before collapsing in a pool of blood.
A knife believed to be the murder weapon was also recovered at the premises.
Mr Dillon was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court in Dublin on Wednesday.
He was transferred to Cloverhill Prison last night.
