Call for enforcement of anti-smoking laws
Labour TD Mary Upton has called for the enforcement of the anti-smoking laws in Dublin Bus.
"I have received many complaints from customers who use certain bus routes of persistent problems on their bus service. No one dares say anything and the bus driver, understandably, does not want to confront this problem."
"Of course, 99% of smokers do not smoke when they are on the bus, but a tiny minority do. Given the smoking and in some instances, drug taking, Dublin Bus customers are not getting the comfortable and safe journey that they should."
She added that recent improvements such as the addition of Quality Bus Corridors will "come to nothing" if other aspects cannot be improved upon.
