Tourism up as 6.4 million visit Ireland last year

Over 6.4 million tourists visited Ireland during 2000, an rise of 5.8% on the previous year, figures out today indicate.

The UK remains our largest market, although travel on continental routes increased by 12.5% and visitors from transatlantic markets up by 14.7%.
