Ahern warns of delay over Arms Trial inquiry
The Taoiseach has said it will be a number of weeks before the Government decides what, if any, inquiry should be held into the 1970s Arms Trial.
In a 20-page statement, Des O'Malley, who was Justice Minister at the time, has refuted allegations that he was involved in tampering with crucial evidence.
Bertie Ahern said it is vital that all important information relating to the 30-year-old controversy is brought into the public domain.
He said the Government's primary task is now to check all the archives and make sure all the relevant information is on show before a decision is made.
