Ahern throws cold water on election speculation

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has once again thrown cold water on speculation that there will be a general election before the end of the year.

In a rallying speech to party colleagues in Dublin last night, Mr Ahern said he remained commited to seeing out the Government's final year in office.
