Members of the ASTI have voted against the Labour court pay recommendation on their 30% pay claim by a majority of 57%.

The result of the ballot was announced tonight by ASTI secretary Charlie Lennon.

The Minister for Education, Dr Michael Woods, said he is delighted with the overwhelming vote of the general body of ASTI members against any further disruption of exams.

He added that he was disappointed that the Labour court recommendations have been narrowly defeated.
