Gun running allegations by former Minister to be answered

The former Justice Minister Dessie O'Malley is expected to answer allegations of Government involvement in the illegal importation of arms in a TV programme to be broadcast tonight.

Mr O'Malley is likely to refute allegations that the Government of the time, under the Taoiseach Jack Lynch, was aware of the illegal importation of guns which led to the "1970's arms trial".
