Body found in River Boyne

The body of a man in his sixties has been taken from the River Boyne in Co Meath.

The body of a man in his sixties has been taken from the River Boyne in Co Meath.

The discovery was made shortly before mid-day.

A search for the man had been underway since 6pm on Saturday evening.

The 65-year-old's body was taken from the river at Scurlogstown, between Trim and Bective at 11.45am.

The body has been taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan, where a post mortem is due to be carried out later this evening. Gardai said foul play is not suspected.
