LE Eithne death: Sailor due in court
A 19-year-old man is due before Dublin District Court this morning charged in connection with the death of naval serviceman Brian Gorey.
The 22-year-old's body was found floating in the River Liffey at the weekend, after an apparent brawl aboard the LE Eithne.
Gardai conducted rigorous interviews of Eithne's 62 crew following the discovery of Brian Gorey's body.
Gorey's body was found by the night watch floating near the vessel, which is tied up at Dublin Port, in the early hours of Sunday.
It appears, the single man from Limerick fell overboard, but post mortem results showed injuries to his body consistent with being assaulted.
His fellow crewman, in court this morning, was arrested yesterday and taken to Pearse Street Garda Station in central Dublin.
The Eithne remains tied at her moorings, while the investigation continues.
