Deadline for security aid applications extended

The deadline for elderly people to apply for security devices has been extended by the Dept of Social, Community and Family Affairs.

The extension follows calls from Fine Gael for more time because information meetings nationwide were cancelled due to foot and mouth.

The deadline was set for this Friday, but has now been pushed back to the end of May and will be put back again if necessary.
