The family of a 16-year-old boy has appealed for an urgent heart donation to save the teenager's life.

Stephen Doyle of Monaghan town is in a critical condition at Dublin's Mater Hospital, awaiting a transplant operation for a rare heart condition.

Family friend Paul Callaghan said: "Every hour counts at this stage."
