Somalian national to appear in court today regarding toddlers death

A 28-year-old Somalian national will appear before Naas District Court this morning charged with the murder of baby Nathan Alli.

The 20-month-old toddler was beaten to death at his home in Clane, and was dead on arrival at Naas General Hospital at 4.30am yesterday morning.

Post mortem results showed he died from blows to the head and body.

The man was arrested at around 7am and charged last night at Naas Garda Station. He is expected to be remanded in custody in court today, pending a High Court appeal for bail.

The distraught mother, who is originally from Dublin but has been living in Clane for several years, is being comforted by relatives.
