New foot-and-mouth tests to be carried out

Another foot-and-mouth scare has hit the Republic of Ireland.

The Irish Country Meats plant at Camolin has once again been shut by the Department of Agriculture after sheep showed suspicious symptoms.

Samples of the slaughtered animals are being sent to Pirbright in England for testing for the virus, although results are expected to take several days.

Officials are tracing the flock to Co Wexford, but say they are not overly concerned by the situation.
