A 41-year-old man was shot in the leg today, in the second apparent paramilitary-style attack in Northern Ireland in less than 24 hours, police said.

The man was wounded in the left leg in the shooting in Carrickfergus, CoAntrim, shortly before 2pm, an RUC spokesman said.
