Two four-year-old boys have been killed in a house fire in the North.

They died in a blaze on Sydney Street, west of Belfast's Shankill Road, an RUC spokeswoman confirmed.

One of the victims was almost five while the other had just turned four.

Their parents and two other children, believed to be younger, were taken to hospital where their conditions were not believed to be life-threatening.

The cause of the fire, which was discovered at about 7am, was still being investigated.
