Man arrested for wife's murder

A 29-year-old Balbriggan man has been remanded in custody until next Thursday in connection with the death of his wife on March 1st last.

Self employed Colin Whelan, of 49 Clonard Street, Balbriggan in North Dublin was charged with the murder of his 27-year-old wife Mary, at a sitting of Swords District Court.

Gardai initially thought that she had died from a fall down the stairs but a post mortem examination revealed that she had been strangled.
