Ahern hopeful of end to teachers' row
The Taoiseach has said he is hopeful that there will be a successful outcome to the teachers' dispute.
Speaking as the ASTI's central executive committee meets in Dublin to discuss the Labour Court recommendations, Bertie Ahern said he hoped that the proposals would be accepted.
However, prominent members of the union have come out strongly against the recommendations.
Former president Bernadine O'Sullivan said the offer on the table was not good enough.
She reiterated the ASTI view that it had been driven to its action by Government intransigence and said the union would not be engaging in the benchmarking process.
