Job losses in Ennis as eyewear company pulls out

85 jobs are to go in Co Clare with the announcement by spectacle frame manufacturer Studio Eyewear, that it is to close its Irish manufacturing operation.

The company, which has been in Ennis since 1952, said the move is being taken because its other facilities in Malta and China are more cost-effective.
