Samples were taken yesterday and sent to England for analysis, although they are being treated as 'cold' cases. The tightening up of the border is continuing with the deployment of extra army personnel.

Meanwhile, Army Rangers will this morning begin to cull wild mountain goats on the Cooley Peninsula in Co Louth, following the outbreak of foot and mouth there on Thursday.
