Cooper-Flynn judge gives new directions to jury

The jury in the Beverly Cooper-Flynn libel trial has been recalled to hear clarified points of evidence.

The jury in the Beverly Cooper-Flynn libel trial has been recalled to hear clarified points of evidence.

The recall follows an accusation by counsel for RTE, Kevin Feeney SC, that presiding judge, Justice Frederick Morris, presented an unbalanced direction to the jury yesterday.

Mr Feeney said that certain key points in favour of RTE's argument had not been addressed.

Justice Morris then gave a corrected presentation to the jury.

The jury has also asked to review tapes of RTE News broadcasts from 1998 in their own private room.

A verdict is expected later this afternoon.
