McKenna wants nuclear loans stopped
Green MEP Patricia McKenna is calling on the Government to support Austria's opposition to increasing loans for the nuclear industry.
She says an increase would fund the expansion of an energy that has proven in the past to be both extremely dangerous and completely unreliable.
Patricia McKenna said last night that Ireland shamefully approved the last round of loan increases in 1990 when Albert Reynolds was Minister for Finance.
She added that Irish people should not be paying for the nuclear industry.
