Fine Gael is calling for the Department of Agriculture to give up its responsibility for the control of food safety.

Health spokesperson, Gay Mitchell, says the Department is too influenced by the concerns of farmers and that food issues should instead be shared between the Department of Health and the minister in charge of consumer affairs.
