Taoiseach chairs task force meeting

The Taoiseach chaired today’s meeting of the special task force that was set up to control the foot and mouth crisis.

Government ministers have expressed concern at the continuing spread of the disease throughout the UK with 135 confirmed cases.

The task force, which meets daily to monitor and manage the situation, is calling for more rigorous controls to be adopted in Britain to bring the outbreak under control.
