Organ retention tribunal opens today
The inquiry into the organ retention scandal opens today.
Members of the Parents for Justice group will make opening submissions.
The inquiry has spent the last few months putting together terms of reference, including a review of post mortem examination policy and procedure since 1970.
The investigation will examine hospital procedures and practices regarding the obtaining of consent for post mortems from next of kin.
It will also look at hospitals' reasons for the retention and storage of organs.
