Inquest begins into Cuffsgrange deaths

An inquest has begun into the deaths of a woman and her two young sons in Cuffsgrange, Co Kilkenny.

Maeve Byrne, 34, and her two sons Alan, 10, and Shane, 6, were killed in separate incidents last September. Mrs Byrne was found at her home with stab wounds.

Her sons were found several days later after an extensive search following the discovery of the family car in a few feet of water in Co Wexford.

The bodies of the two boys were washed up close to each other on the Wexford coast.

The body of the father, Stephen Byrne, 41, was found washed up off the Welsh coast.
