Foot and mouth scare in North as dead cow found

A dead cow displaying symptoms similar to foot and mouth disease has been found in the North.

Stormont Agriculture Minister Brid Rodgers said her department's vets believe the cow, which was found on a farm in the mid-Ulster area, died of malignant catarrh.

However, she said she is restricting the movement of animals within a five-mile radius of the area as a precautionary measure until it is confirmed that the animal did not have foot and mouth disease.
