Prosecution wind up case at Gilligan trial
The prosecution case at the trial of John Gilligan, the man accused of the journalist Veronica Guerin, has closed at the Special Criminal Court.
Mr Gilligan's counsel, Terence McDonnell, said he will be making submissions that his client has no case to answer on all counts upon which he has been charged.
The court agreed to adjourn the trial until next Tuesday, when it will hear the defence submissions and the prosecution's response.
Earlier, a defence application that Gilligan should be released immediately was rejected and the judge ruled that he is lawfully before the court.
