A campaign has been launched this afternoon seeking to improve television services for the deaf and hard of hearing.

A campaign has been launched this afternoon seeking to improve television services for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The National Association for the Deaf is campaigning for the amendment of the Government's new broadcasting bill to ensure that half of all programmes on Irish stations are subtitled.

This is already the case in other countries, including Britain, where stations are required by law to subtitle at least 50% of output.
