£100m plan for Fatima Mansions
A £100m pound plan to regenerate Dublin's Fatima Mansions housing complexes will be unveiled by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and the Lord Mayor of Dublin Maurice Ahern later today.
The plan is part of the Government’s RAPID scheme to promote urban renewal.
The masterplan is being welcomed by community groups in the flat complex.
They say that for the first time in its history, Fatima Mansions has an opportunity for a fresh start.
They especially welcome the integration of the complex into the wider community, the provision of extra accommodation and new sport and leisure facilities.
However, they also warn that the promises must be followed by real action.
