£15m in cigarettes seized at Dublin Port
More than £1.5m worth of cigarettes have been seized by customs officers at Dublin Port.
The consignment was discovered at a container depot following a surveillance operation spanning several weeks.
8.4m Regal brand cigarettes, which originated in Singapore, were concealed in a shipment of clothing.
A number of people are being questioned in connection with the seizure and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
In the last year, more than £70m worth of smuggled cigarettes has been seized at Dublin port.
