Central Bank issues reminder on coin hoards

The Central Bank has urged the public to begin cashing in hoarded coins before the euro becomes legal tender in this country.

The Bank estimates there is over £30m in loose change scattered around the country - an average of £24 per household.

The euro will formally come into use on this day next year, marking more than 70 years of Irish currency.
