Disadvantaged areas to benefit from £200m scheme

Twenty five of the most disadvantaged areas of the country are to benefit from a £200m development programme.

The 'Rapid' scheme aims to revitalise areas by planning, investment and development and will benefit areas worst affected by unemployment.

The scheme arose out of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness and will be implemented with the participation of local communities.
