Aid workers from Afghanistan are visiting Ireland in a bid to seek help and publicise the plight of their war-torn nation.

Thousands of refugees displaced by the country's civil war are dying in makeshift camps as night-time temperatures plunge to -25 Celsius.

Antonia Donina, who is here to have discussions with the Dept of Foreign Affairs, warned that half a million people are in danger of starvation if aid is not sent quickly to the region.
