28 pipe bombings in North so far this year

The RUC have recorded 28 pipe bombings in the North so far this year, mostly in the Coleraine area of east Co Down.

The latest Catholic family targeted is moving out of their home in the town. So far, no one has been killed.

The man, known by the nickname "The Mexican", believed to be masterminding the sectarian campaign in Coleraine, is also understood to have been behind the Greysteel massacre in 1993 when seven people were mowed down in the Rising Sun bar.

SDLP assemblyman John Dallat has called those responsible depraved and in need of psychiatric help, asking if their hatred is so deep they will not stop until an entire family is wiped out.
