DUP election candidates may step aside

The Democratic Unionist Party may step aside in three northern constituencies held by anti-agreement MPs in the forthcoming British general election.

The Democratic Unionist Party may step aside in three northern constituencies held by anti-agreement MPs in the forthcoming British general election.

The party’s deputy leader, Peter Robinson, said today that if the candidates stay the same, there will be no challenge to the sitting MPs in West Tyrone, South Belfast and North Down.

Meanwhile, the Ulster Unionist Party will select a candidate to replace Ken Maginnis in the Fermanagh-South Tyrone constituency on Monday.
