Talks with ASTI to resume today

Talks aimed at ending the teachers' pay dispute are due to get underway this afternoon at the Labour Relations Commission.

It is hoped that the Government-appointed mediator, Tom Pomphrett, will persuade the ASTI to agree to a new forum to argue for their 30% pay claim.

The resumption of discussions means that the association's rolling regional strikes will be suspended for at least one week.
