A major recruitment drive is on to try and attract mature women and men to the nursing profession.

The Nursing Board has announced that it is setting aside 15% of this year's general nursing training places and 45% of the psychiatric nursing places for mature students.

The Board's Christine Hughes said it was hoping for a positive response from those who had an interest in nursing, but who for various reasons had never taken up the profession.
