Son struck mother with sweeping brush

A psychotic episode caused a man to strike his mother with a sweeping brush during an attack on her last weekend.

Detective Garda Mike O’Brien arrested Ian Kelleher, of Ballinderry Park, Mayfield, Cork, and charged him with assault causing harm to Helena Kelleher and breaching a protection order last Sunday.

Det Garda O’Brien said the gardaí were called to a house at Ballinderry Park on Sunday following the violent incident.
