RTÉ to stop producing kids’ shows

RTÉ has announced that it is to stop producing its own young people’s programmes and commission all of the shows from the independent sector.

The broadcaster said it was taking the step in “recognition of the challenging financial environment” and so as to achieve “stronger efficiencies and value for money”.

RTÉ said the move would enable it to meet its statutory committed spend in the sector and reduce operating costs internally.
