A Galway man who conned an unsuspecting shop assistant in Killarney into buying “out-of-date contraceptive devices” has been given the Probation Act.

The court also ordered the out-of-date condoms to be destroyed.

Father of two, Charles Ward, aged 28, of Vicars Choral, Tuam, Co Galway, pleaded guilty to the dishonesty charge at Tralee Circuit Criminal Court earlier this week, where he had been sent forward for trial.
