Gardai are awaiting instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the death of an elderly woman struck by a car on the N11 last May.

Mairead Doyle (82) of Woodlands Park, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin was pronounced dead on May 4 2016.

Ms Doyle died after she was hit by a car as she crossed the south bound dual carriageway of the N11 in Cabinteely village around 1pm.

The cause of death was multiple trauma, according to an autopsy report. Ms Doyle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dublin Coroner’s Court heard that Gardai conducted a comprehensive investigation and submitted a file to the DPP.

Her body was taken from the scene to Saint Columcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown, where her daughter Cliona Doyle formally identified her remains to a garda.

The N11 southbound was closed for a period at Cornelscourt to allow for a Garda forensic investigation. Coroner Dr Myra Cullinane adjourned the inquest until May 11, 2017 for further mention.
