Witness who fled stabbing scene in Dublin sought by gardaí
The deceased, named locally as Leo Carolan, 25, was found with knife wounds inside his flat on South Circular Rd, Portobello, in Dublin’s south inner city around 3.30pm on Tuesday.
An Irishman, he had spent some of his life in France, where his parents live.
A second man, thought to be known to Mr Carolan, was found on a footpath opposite the house on the opposite side of South Circular Rd.
This individual, thought to be Swiss and aged 25, had suffered a knife wound to his face and neck and had collapsed.
He was brought to hospital, where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Gardaí believed the stabbings could have resulted from some sort of personal or domestic dispute, but stressed it was early in their investigation.
A third man in his mid-20s, was seen running from the house at around 3.20pm. He is described as 5ft 6ins, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and runners, and having fair or reddish hair cut short.
“There was a third person at the scene that we are anxious to locate,” said Superintendent Patrick McMenamin, who is leading the investigation.
“We would ask that person to make contact with us. We believe that person has crucial information in relation to this investigation, that will assist us. We’d just like to talk to him.”
