An inquest into his death opened at Dublin Coroner’s Court heard the cause of death was determined by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy, who carried out a post-mortem on the day of death.

Martin O’Rourke’s sister Catherine, was present in court, wept during the inquest, which heard that the investigation into the young man’s death is ongoing.
