Scientology goes Gaeilge - the church is seeking Irish translators

Who knows, we might see Tom Cruise spreading the good news of Scientology in the wild and windy byways of Connemara soon, as the church is seeking Irish translators.

Scientology goes Gaeilge - the church is seeking Irish translators

According to a report by Tuairisc.ie, Golden Era Productions, a sub-company of the controversial Church, recently wrote to a number of translators looking for people to render its literature and programmes in Irish.

“In addition to the many languages we already provide, we will also now be making our materials available in Gaelic and thus we are looking for qualified and interested translators,” it said.

The company is seeking to have material on human rights, the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, and a range of other educational material made available in the Irish language. It is believed to have made similar attempts in 2015.

The Church has an Irish headquarters based in Abbey St in Dublin. The exact number of members is not known but is estimated to amount to a few hundred.

The religion boasts high profile celebrity devotees including Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Kirstie Alley.
