Aer Lingus meals praised but SAS pizza ‘like cardboard’

Aer Lingus’s in-flight meals have come in for praise from an online guide to sky-high servings that doesn’t mince its words when it comes to its grub.

While inflightfeed.com has seared United Airlines’ steak, skewered Air Asia’s chicken satay and carved up the pizza from SAS, it has praised the latest meals served by Air Lingus.

The reviewers gave the Clodagh McKenna-inspired meals a 9/10 rating and said that “all meals offered great value for money, have been well thought out and give you a taste of Irish dishes inspired from around the country”.

The writers have not always been as lavish with their praise, and criticised United Airlines for its “tasteless chicken sandwich” and “overcooked steak” and has warned readers to “keep your expectations low when flying with Air India to avoid disappointment”.

Perhaps the reviewers’ most damning criticism was reserved for SAS’s “dry and tasteless” pizza.

“A piece of cardboard with tomato paste and cheese slapped on would taste better than this,” the reviewer lamented.

Air Asia’s chicken satays “have seen better days, as though someone threw them together quickly, and the taste ain’t great”, and described its meat as “tough and rubbery”.

The site also took aim at Air Asia’s nasi lemak — a fragrant rice meal.

“After about two mouthfuls, it’s time to put away the dish,” they said.

With almost 13,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram, inflightfeed.com is one of the most referenced websites for in-flight food reviews, and the site is currently crowdfunding the finances for a documentary that it says will “lift the lid on airline meals”.

Established in 2012, the site has advice on eating on more than 150 airlines.
