A nurse who sued over alleged failures in relation to a cervical smear test and her subsequent care died before her case came to court.

An apology was read in the High Court yesterday to the family of the mother of three, Bridget Gillard, aged 51, who died on September 15, 2013.

Her husband, Bobby Gillard, who had continued her legal action, yesterday settled on confidential terms in his case against the HSE and the Mater Hospital in Dublin over his wife’s death.
