Assault on man struck by car

A man was kicked and assaulted on a roadway where he lay injured after being knocked down by a car.

Gary O’Brien, aged 21, of Ash Crescent, Newcastle West, Gortboy, pleaded guilty at Limerick Circuit Court yesterday to assault causing harm to Stephen Daly at Gortboy on November 19, 2014.

Det Garda Joseph O’Sullivan, Newcastle West, said Mr Daly and a friend were out drinking when they met the accused and another man in Maiden St. A fight broke out and when it finished Mr Daly went towards Ash Crescent, where another incident occurred.
